The towns of Burnsville and Spruce Pine, Mt Mitchell State Park and Golf course, Carolina Hemlocks, waterfalls, and hiking trails are within a ten to thirty minute drive, while Asheville, Grandfather Mountain and Blowing Rock are all easy day trips.
